Check out the neighborhoods of Creek Wood, Wavy Meadows, Heather Downs, Rivershore Commons and Crooked Run. The neighborhoods I have showcased had an average sales price under $175,000 for the past 12 month period. As with most neighborhoods, you will find some lower priced homes say, $125,000 or perhaps $150,000 and under $175,000. There will also be some higher one's like $200,000 or maybe even $225,000. These are great neighboods to start your search with. They are close to Cherry Point, Havelock and New Bern with easy commutes.
